Australian Championships

A large contingent of Gippsland bowlers headed to Merimbula in early December to support State Champions Jo Martin, Judy Beesley & Val Hardy (Paynesville)  in the Triples and Jan Morton (Sale) & Gail McKenzie (West Sale)  in the Pairs.While NGBD had cancelled pennant for the week to allow supporters to attend without compromising their teams the Paynesville girls had to forgo pennant to support.

First up the Triples and after a win against Tasmania, a bye then a win against Northern Territory they were into the Gold Medal match.
Coming up against a red hot Qld team skipped by Jackeroo Chloe Stewart, former Jackeroo Claire Turley and emerging Jackeroo Kira Bourke (all former Victorians) the girls took it up them just falling short 16-19.

The pairs the next day saw Jan & Gail lose their first game to NSW by 9, then draw with Tasmania and then draw again with eventual Gold Medalists Qld to finish 3rd in their section.
